What Are Dentures?

Dentures are removable replacements for missing teeth. A complete denture replaces a full upper or lower arch, while a partial denture fills in the gaps left by several missing teeth and clasps around the natural teeth you still have. Each one is custom-made from impressions of your mouth so it fits your gums properly and matches the shape and shade of natural teeth.

A well-made denture restores your ability to eat and speak comfortably, and it supports the facial muscles that lose their natural support when teeth are lost. Dentures do need periodic adjustment as the gums change shape over the years, and for patients who want more stability than a conventional denture provides, they can be anchored securely with implants.

When Should You Consider It?

• Several or all teeth missing in an arch: A denture restores a full set of teeth without surgery.
• Remaining teeth are failing and extractions are planned: A denture can be prepared in advance so you are not left without teeth.
• Difficulty chewing or speaking clearly: Missing teeth affect both, and a properly fitted denture restores normal function.
• An existing denture that has become loose or uncomfortable: Gums change shape over time — a reline or a new denture resolves the fit.
• You want a non-surgical replacement option: Dentures achieve a full replacement without implant surgery or a healing period.

What to Expect

1. Consultation and impressions.
   Dr. Sezer assesses your gums and any remaining teeth, discusses the right type of denture for you, and takes detailed impressions.
2. Try-in and adjustment.
   A trial denture is fitted so the bite, shade, and tooth position can be checked and refined before the final version is made.
3. Delivery and follow-up.
   Your finished denture is fitted and adjusted for comfort, with follow-up appointments to fine-tune the fit as you settle in.
